Season 2 aired from 1991 to 1994. Even though Pingu is a children's television series, many of the episodes have been censored before they reached UK television. Some episodes were even banned completely from being shown. For a full list, see Pingu Censorship.

  • In the mid 1990s, due to the new soundtrack and voice acting made for Season 3, Season 2's audio was redone and the title sequence was replaced with a section of David Hasselhoff's "The Pingu Dance".
  • This is the last season to have the original Küchenchef theme tune, composed by Spanish music composer, Antonio Conde.
  • This is the last season to have Antonio Conde as the composer.
  • This is the last season to use the "E-mu Emax SE" to compose the music.
  • Pingu and Robby gain deeper voices in the original version.
  • In the remastered versions of the episodes for this series, and the first and third series, the HiT Entertainment logo is added at the end of every episode on DVD releases.
  • This is the final series of Pingu to have all episodes directed and animated by creator Otmar Gutmann, as he died of a heart attack on 13 October 1993. "Pingu Cannot Lose" was the final ever episode released during his lifetime. For the rest of the series onward until its three year hiatus starting in 2000, all episodes would be directed by Spanish-Swiss animator and director, Javier Garcia, and Japanese director, Seishi Katto.
  • Ever since 2002, when this series and possibly all the other classic seasons aired on CBeebies, the episodes have been either cropped and presented in 14:9 ("halfway widescreen") or retain the full original 4:3 aspect ratio for later CBeebies airings.[1]
