Pingu Breaks a Vase is the twelfth episode of the third season of Pingu. It first aired on August 31, 1995.
Summary
While Mother is out running errands, Pingu and Pinga create a makeshift tent indoors by placing a large sheet over some chairs and propping it up with a broom. Pingu fetches the toys and some cushions, but there is not enough room to move around in and their tent soon collapses. Pinga angrily throws a cushion at Pingu's head and Pingu chases her with it. He then throws the cushion at Pinga, but it hits a blue vase on the sideboard, causing it to fall over and shatter.
Pingu and Pinga are horrified at what they have done and quickly clean the mess up, knowing that Father will be home soon. Pingu hides the remants of the broken vase in the cupboard and makes Pinga promise not to tell anyone.
Father gradually comes home with a bouquet of flowers. He goes to put them in the vase, but notices that is missing. He asks Pingu and Pinga if they know what happened, but they deny any knowledge to the vase's whereabouts. Father searches everywhere and eventually finds a small fragment of the vase lying on the floor. Pinga realises that there is no way out now; she tells Father the truth and shows him where the vase is hidden. Father looks sternly over at Pingu, who begins to weep. When Father sees how sorry Pingu is, he has an idea. He eats the last gherkin in the pickle jar and uses the jar as an alternative for the vase, which cheers everyone up.
When Mother arrives home, Pingu tries to make sure that Pinga does not break her promise not to tell anyone, but Pinga tells Mother about the broken vase anyway. Thankfully, she sees the funny side of things and is not angry at all.
